Welcome to the Skating Association of Maine

~~The Skating Association of Maine (SAM) is an organization with over 300 members. SAM’s mission is to encourage and promote ice skating programs in the State of Maine. SAM’s purpose is to encourage and promote the participation, instruction, practice and advancement of its members in the sport of skating on ice, including, but not limited to Learn to Skate, Figure Skating, and Hockey, in accordance with the rules and regulations of each sport’s National Governing Body (NGB) and to instill the ideals of sportsmanship, honesty, and teamwork.

Skating Association of Maine Presents Awards, Elects Committees at Annual Meeting

AUGUSTA, Maine – On Sunday, April 8, the Skating Association of Maine (SAM) hosted their annual board meeting to recognize several members of the community for their commitment to the nonprofit’s mission to encourage and promote ice skating programs in the State of Maine. The 2018 Hockey and Figure Steering Committees were also elected and announced.

As part of the meeting, five individuals received the associations outstanding volunteerism awards. Ric Sirois, from Augusta, long-time head coach with SAM, Nicole Sacre, registrar, David Jamison, from Gardiner, tournament director and long-time head coach with SAM, Vaugh Smith, SAM hockey representative and long-time head coach and Sue Smith, board president all received a plaque from the association to recognize their time and commitment to the organization.
